* Back in 2009, the owners had friends already living near West Palm Beach Florida who were
excited about the tropical weather and waters of the Atlantic. After being on the Treasure Coast
for several years, they decided to take up diving. After several years and many dives in Florida,
the Bahamas and the Cayman Islands, they earned the Master Divers certification. Ultimately
tired of following the "Dive Boats" and their pre-determined "Dive Sites" the idea of their own
private vessel came to fruition for Underwater Exploration.
The SeaFloor Explorer.. originally a 1978 SeaRay Model Sedan Bridge 300S. Equipped with dual Inboards, a bridge, and dual controls.
The original hull was never designed for Outboards. Re-Engineered from a transom designed to hold back water to a beef-up timbered inner skeleton within the existing shell. The stringers are now larger and fiberglassed in place. The transom was only about 5/8" thick in the original design is now 3 1/2" of plywood, fiberglass, and epoxy layered into a solid structure capable of supporting weight. A 4" by 8" transom beam was also built from layered ply, fiberglass and epoxy, placed across the breadth of the transom. Layered ply, fiberglass and epoxy structural triangles tying the transom to the stringers were added. Layer upon layer of fiberglass cloth and epoxy tied the transom and beam to the sidewalls of the hull. An outboard brackett was installed and now supports two Suzuki 225HP 4-stroke outboards.
