the Carrier BUS site!

We chose to FOAM the inside of the BUS with a product called Handi-Foam.

It cost approx $1400 for two sets of 600 Board Foot Containers.

I am VERY pleased I chose to do it this way.  This past Winter (2003-2004) I picked a day that was ZERO degrees outside (in the barn) and turned on my 24,000 BTU LP GAS Hot Air RV Furnace to see if it would heat the bus.  It did take about 1 hour and fifteen minutes to rise the temp 70 degrees without stopping.  It then shut down and continued to maintain the 70 degree temp.  WOW !

It should be noted that the foam also has a 1/2 plywood sheeting throughout the bus and my windows are Peninsula Thermopane but as you will see in the pics, the windows are very large picture window Sliders.

Foam and 1/2 inch

Plywood

Foam is from the outer skin and shaved at the steel struts.
The back bay in the basement is also foamed in the side walls including the bay doors to help keep the cold out and away from the Water Tanks to be housed here.  2 inches of foam is supposed to be equal to 7 1/2 inches of Fiberglass.  The best part however is that the foam will no longer allow the air to get at the metals or aluminum.  Also there is no air infiltration either.
Plywood and Foam!  What a combination.  By the way, I purchased ply when it was still $10 per sheet.  I bought some 40 sheets to do the inside of the bus. Ceilings were also 1/2 inch ply.
