NEOPLAN Jumbocruiser 59 Foot - World Largest!


Double-deck articulated coach NEOPLAN Jumbocruiser N138 - the world largest luxury coach
59' (18 meter) length, 13' (4 meter) height and 8.2' (2.5 meter) width, total weight 28 metric tons, turning circle 79' (24 meter) by means of a guided trailing axle, serial number 1; 12 cylinder V-type engine (Mercedes Benz) with 440 Horse- power and 20910 ccm of the engine.


History of the Luxury-Mobil This vehicle named „Jumbocruiser“, which became a milestone in the German history of vehicles, was able to transport 144 passenger for travelling, took place among the group of the biggest man-made coaches and was registered in the „Guinness Book of Records“ as the world biggest on-road coach. There were ever only 11 pieces built for passenger transports and this vehicle has the production No. 1. This luxury mobil is an unique rarity and has been described and explained in several books and publication. It is the only one of its kind with such a set up and registered a scound time in the
"Guinness Book of Records" as the largest street registered mobil home.
The „DER BUS“ is the only kind of its species worldwide.

Renovation and equipment The coach has been renovated and changed into the „DER BUS“ in several years, worked out by German designers and engineers (approximately 18.000 working hours). Therefore the chassis was completely renewed and covered with aluminium sheets, a drop backboard was integrated in the rear part as a loading platform for small vehicles and on the roof seven additional roof lights were assembled. It was total disassembled up to the last screw and all technical parts (engine, breaks, gearing, electric system, ...) were replaced trough new one and built up. Moreover a roof platform was mounted onto the entire length of the vehicle. In addition an exterior lighting set with eight spotlights (500 watt each) was installed onto the roof. In the upper deck a „Bedroom“, a „Living room“, a „Kitchen“ with a „Dining“ area, a „Guest berth“ and a „Bathroom“ are situated, in which the floor was lowered in order to gain an ideal standing height in the shower area. In the lower deck next to the driver and eight passenger seats, a multifunctional „Conference“ area and an exclusive „Reception“ and „Bar“ area are situated. The rear part is used as a garage and material storage room.

General Equipment Electricity supply The installation of an extensive electricity supply system is guaranteed with: 1. a sound proof generator with 5.4 kilowatt power, which also contributes in parts to the heating system due to its power, warmth linkage and the resulting thermal waste heat. 2. Batteries 10 to 15 kilowatt hours storage capacity, connected with a transformer charging combination allow an absolutely noiseless energy supply without main supply up to a power of 2 kilowatt, short term up to 6 kilowatt. This 231 Volt network system is available in the entire vehicle.

Heating / Climate The heating system of the vehicle operates due to the waste heat of the generator in combination with a „Webasto“ auxiliary heating system and additional electrical heating devices. An air conditioning system furnishes pleasantly tempered air by means of an air channel leading into the rooms.
Lighting system The lighting system inside the vehicle is activated by 60 low volt halogen lamps offering a total power of 1.2 kilowatt. This system operates either over the board network of the vehicle, the supply storage or the 231 Volt network even in several rooms simultaneously and can also be dimmed.
Water supply Two separate systems ensure the water supply. In the front part/tractive machine 61 gallons (230 litres) and in the rear part 116 gallons (440 litres) of fresh water. A warm water boiling device with 13 gallons (50 litres) as well as the corresponding waste water tanks were installed.
Safety An extensive alarm system which is launched in case of burglary, but also when technical alarm occurs (fire, water) guarantees safety for passenger and equipment.
Operating safety Beside the indispensable general overhaul of the entire vehicle technology also the complete vehicle electric system has been renewed and modernised. In addition a backing up camera as well as two ultrasonic distance measuring systems were installed.
Exterior design / Light protection In order to create a certain feeling for the atmosphere inside the coach and in order to reach a dynamic exterior design, the window spaces were modified (reduced in size and darkened) so that even at night when the interior lighting is activated only little insight from outside is possible.

Description of the different areas · Driver and passenger area The passenger area is located in the front section of the tractive machine and consists of a driver seat and eight pleasant seats covered with black and yellow leather. The floor, as in all passages of the vehicle, is made of grey and white mixed siliceous resin. The entire instrument panel has been renewed and generously covered with a root timber laminate.
· Reception - Bar and Conference area Next to the passenger area there is a VIP-Lounge equipped with a bar of 16.4' (5 meters) length, top containers and black genuine timber blinds. This was manufactured using different noble material like root timber, stainless steel, aluminium, korian, mirror and offers running water, refrigerator, sound and video projection set, PC-working place and a central control unit for the alarm and energy systems. Opposite there is a design couch, made of the same leather as the passenger seats. All windows are framed with root timber and can be closed with integrated curtains. The walls are made of white leather, combined with design aluminium, the floor is covered with structural genuine timber. On the ceiling root timber elements have been assembled which were provided with chromium-plated low voltage lighting devices. The illumination may also be activated in form of dimming as it is the case in the bedroom, living room and guest berth.
· Bedroom The first bedroom is located in the upper deck front section of the tractive machine and is equipped with an electric adjustable bed (to level the bed). As far as entertainment is concerned, as special additional unit can be found in the living room. The bed room is limited by swinging doors and contains two sideboards and an upper wardrobe decorated with off-white plates framed, black oak edges and profiles. The ceiling consists of aluminium covered plates, which are integrated by polished linking and framing profiles made of aluminium. This type of ceiling and the chrome-plated low voltage lighting system covers the entire upper deck. Moreover all windows and roof lights in the entire upper deck were framed with polished aluminium profiles.
· Living room In the middle upper deck of the tractive machine next to the bedroom, the living room is equipped with two special conceived designer couches manufactured in yellow fabric and black leather on stainless steel feet. For entertainment a „B&O“ stereo set is available. The walls are covered with off-white and the floor with grey carpets.
· Kitchen and Dining area The special kitchen is located next to the living room and is manufactured in massive timber with blue and black and stainless steel resopal surfaces. The working plate is made of white grey korian. It contains the refrigerator, the stove, the microwave oven and baking oven, dish washer and of course running water. Moreover the air conditioning device and an alarm unit were integrated. In the dining area there is a table made of korian and stainless steel with the corresponding chrome seats. Next to the dining area there is also the front access to the upper deck. The walls are framed with blue and stainless steel resopal with polished aluminium profiles. The floor is covered with siliceous resin design aluminium.
· Live ring The live ring is located in the upper deck and links by means of articulation the front tractive machine and the rear part of the vehicle. It is equipped with two round benches made of black leather and concertina walls made of grey velour. On both sides the front tractive machine and the rear part can be separated with an integrated curtain.
· Guest Berth Located in the rear part of vehicle in the upper deck. It is equipped with a chaiselongue, a folding bed 6.5' by 6.5' (2 metres by 2 metres) with black and off-white patterned fabric. Floor and walls are covered with grey and off-white carpets.
· Bathroom Located in the rear part of the vehicles upper deck on the left side next to the guest berth. The bathroom is completely tiled, the walls with white and black borders and the floor in black diagonal. Integrated are: A large shower, a wash basin made of black and yellow laminate with chrome fittings and a ceramic toilette. The bathroom can be closed with an integrated sliding door. Opposite to the bathroom there is the back access, leading into the rear part of the lower deck.
· Storage room The storage room, which is completely covered with aluminium checker plates is located in the rear part of the lower deck. It contains a refrigerator, boiler, wash basin, working place, storage room and a loading platform for a small vehicle. Beside the loading platform there are two regular entrances into the rear part of the vehicle.
· Engine room The „Heart“ of the entire supply system and technology is installed in this room; e.g. the generator (Zeise Camino 8), transformer charging combination (Feedom 250/24 volt), batteries (8 piece Sonnenschein yellow batteries SL200), vehicle batteries (2 piece Banner 160AH), vehicle supplementary technology and heating system.
